Offered for sale is a 0.5L 1971 Fiat 500L manual that has been with the current owner for the last 9 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 80 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:

A Charming and sympathetically fully restored 1971 Fiat 500L. We are told this beautiful car has been fully restored to a high standard throughout, with lots of kind support from Fiat 500 specialists at Latifa Estates. It is tax exempt with a MOT expiry of September 2015 and is showing 84,000 kms.

Interestingly enough the current vendors purchased the car when they lived in Northern Italy in 2005, and brought it back when they returned to the UK in 2008. Since returning to the UK, the car has undergone an extensive restoration. The restoration included:

New body panels: 2 new floor panels, inner and outer sills on both sides, and inner and outer wings at the front and back. Re-spray colour was matched to the original ("blu turchese"), and a pot is included in the sale. All 4 (+2 spare) wheels shot blasted to remove rust and re-painted.

Braking system: new brake lines, brake cylinders and brake pads throughout
Suspension: all parts powder coated to prevent corrosion, new king pins, new shock absorbers, new front wheel bearings and new bushes throughout

Fuel system: fuel tank powder coated and new fuel line fitted (biofuel resistant to 100%). Original fuel lines found in most of these cars corrode over time due to the 5-10% ethanol biofuel found in regular unleaded.

Engine: Stripped and cleaned pistons and piston rings, replaced all oil seals, new head gasket, carburettor stripped and cleaned (new gaskets throughout). New spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, and coil. Many parts stripped and powder coated to prevent corrosion. A new timing chain is also included in the sale (it doesn't need doing at this point, but is always worth doing when you buy a car).

Interior: new carpets throughout (modular to allow easy access to individual parts of the floor panels), new seat covers and cushioning, rear seat belts, new German mohair fabric sunroof cover. Italian owner's manual included.

Exterior: stainless steel bumpers front and back, and aluminium rear light cover. This means that the exterior metal polishes nicely and will not corrode, unlike the more common cheaper chrome bumpers. UK headlights are also fitted (unlike many new Italian imports).

Also included in the sale snow chains (sadly never used!), a breathable fitted cover (worth over pound150) and 4 protective floor mats.

The vendors inform they have spent a significant amount of money restoring this left hand drive car to bring it back to its former glory, and they now think it is time now for someone else to go on and enjoy the car. We are told they initially intended to restore the car to its original state, but with improvements to parts that are known to fail or corrode easily (e.g. chrome bumpers, and mohair sunroof) and where the choice of replacement part was available, they tell us that they always went for the higher quality, more expensive option. As you can see from the photos, the car looks beautiful and must be of consideration.
