The Alsberg Express was a winner from the beginning. Place 1st, 2nd and 3rd in her first Transpac. the boat was designed as a downwind flyer and that she is. However the upwind performance is not bad and she can hold her own.
And for a ULDB there is a surprisingly comfortable interior. Light Ash bulkheads add to the openes. There is an enclosed head and aft is a huge double berth. Today many Expresses are used as cruising boats. And there are still fleets racing. For the last four years she has had light use as a daysailer, crewed by two.
She can easily be converted back to a racer. They are Still Competitive Today.
