Description:

The Horizon Cat has a reputation for being an easy boat to sail and to trailer.   She is also inexpensive to own and operate.    The Horizon Cat has the traditional New England catboat design that goes back to the 1800s.   She has an attractive profile.   Her draft ranges from 2’2” with the keel board up, to 5’ with the board down.    She has the versatility to sail into shallow water or close into a beach with the board up.   She can sail to windward with the board down.

The Horizon Cat is designed as a day sailor or weekender for a couple.   The cabin’s settees can convert to a berth for two adults for overnight stays.       The boat can be easily sailed single handed.  She has the Mastender System which allows one person to raise and lower the mast quickly and easily.    The Horizon Cat was introduced in 2004 and is still in production.   This should make it easier to obtain those parts and support from the factory, which is in Florida.

In July 2019 the owner purchased a new Evinrude 9.8 horsepower electric start outboard engine with power tilt.  The engine was installed on Piacere by Parma Marine and has a 36 month warranty.    It is a quiet and reliable 4-stroke.   It provides more than adequate power for times when the wind dies.

Piacere has been well maintained by its current owners and is in good condition.     Her interior cushions reflect light usage.   She is a freshwater boat used in Ohio and Michigan.   Piacere comes with a galvanized steel trailer with two axles, which is an significant upgrade from the standard single axle.   The current owner has bought a Beneteau 423 and no longer uses Piacere.
