Hesdin is a typically pretty Northern French town, with quaint little streets and the River Canche running through the centre.There is a pretty main square, the Place d'Armes, and this is an ideal spot to have a coffee or a glass of wine and watch the world go by. Hesdin has some excellent restaurants and a good selection of shops.




The area is also excellent for many sports, and is particularly enjoyable for walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Golf is available locally, as is tennis, swimming and fishing.




The stretch of coast between Calais and the River Somme (Côte d'Opale) can lay claim to having some of the best beaches in France with miles of unspoilt sand and endless horizons. Try the popular Stella or Berck beaches for a stroll or a dip if you are feeling brave.




The ferry port at Calais is an hour in the car whilst the famous beach resort of Le Touquet and the medieval hilltop town of Montreuil are both within easy reach.
