The Serra de Estrela mountains have national park status and Portugal's only Ski resort. The property is part renovated having had a new insulated roof leaving lovely vaulted ceilings, with velux windows and exposed timbers. New double glazed glass panels and doors have been installed on the first floor which has created a lovely bright airy room with fantastic far reaching views. The top half of the gable and rear of the house has been rendered and painted, leaving the lower half natural stone for contrast. A new septic tank in the field at the rear of the property has been built. Espinhera is the nearest town of any size and has a popular Sunday market where you can enjoy traditional piri chicken or roast pork. A little further is Mortagua where there is a fine selection of eateries, banks, bars and even a cinema.Of course, if you need the city Portugal's third city Coimbra, is just half an hour away and any number of unspoilt Atlantic beaches are within an hours drive.
