Part renovated Character Stone Cottage. Character property, in a rural Portuguese village, this lovely house has views of the Serra de Estrela mountains and the Bussaco National Forest, within the grounds of the forest was the location of the battle of Bussaco where Wellington defeated Napoleon's forces in the Peninsular war on 27th September 1810 and the beautiful Bussaco Palace in Luso, only 20 minutes drive. The Serra de Estrela mountains have national park status and Portugal's only Ski resort. The property is part renovated having had a new insulated roof leaving lovely vaulted ceilings, with velux windows and exposed timbers. New double glazed glass panels and doors have been installed on the first floor which has created a lovely bright airy room with fantastic far reaching views. The top half of the gable and rear of the house has been rendered and painted, leaving the lower half natural stone for contrast. A new septic tank in the field at the rear of the property has been built. Work is ongoing on the property and we plan to continue to renovate one half of the house on 2 floors when funds allow, up to a value of 4000 . We estimate this would then create a liveable area enabling for the rest of the house to be renovated at your leisure.If help is needed, there is a very good builder in the village who charges 65 per day, who has been working along side myself. There are 3 floors to this property each floor having 2 seperate rooms of about 6 x 6 meters.One of the cellars was formerly used for crushing grapes for wine production and still has the old wooden wine press.The roof of the house continues at a lower level and is attached to the house next door. This would make an ideal internal garage/workshop, or more living space if needed for possibly holiday rentals/B&B.

Meat, vegetables, bread and fish are all delivered to the village during the week. Espinhera is the nearest town of any size and has a popular Sunday market where you can enjoy traditional piri chicken or roast pork. A little further is Mortagua where there is a fine selection of eateries, banks, bars and even a cinema.Of course, if you need the city Portugal's third city Coimbra, is just half an hour away and any number of unspoilt Atlantic beaches are within an hours drive.
