Description:

Phoenix House of NY & Long Island is looking for a Full time Janitor to work in our Ronkonkoma facility. The working schedule is Tuesday-Saturday 8am-430pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

• Janitor to be responsible for the cleanliness of the facility, all common areas, domestic trash pull, adherence to recycling, floors, ceilings, walls, fixtures, bathrooms, dining areas, and apartments/bedrooms (as needed).
• Janitor to clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals and toilets; wash windows, mirrors and walls; clean and sanitize showers as assigned; replenish supplies in the restrooms.
• Janitor to sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors. Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment; clean desks and counter tops.
• Janitor to empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles; pick up papers and other debris. Move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for conferences and meetings.
• Janitor to replace lights and adjust shades and blinds also to regulate ventilation and temperature; clean air vents as required. Janitor to identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. Also, to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
• Monitor building security and safety by being alert to and reporting any unusual activities, performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Janitor to notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
· High School diploma or equivalent required
