Stone cottage in National Park, with two large paddocks and lovely gardens

This beautifully restored cottage in the heart of the Parque Natural das Serras de Aire has a one bedroom annex plus two ruins that could be restored and 26000m of land.

Attention to detail in the wonderful stone house is exquisite.

The main property briefly comprises of an outdoor kitchen, large kitchen, utility room, storeroom, lounge, 2 bedrooms ( 1 ensuite) and a family bathroom.

The outdoor kitchen is covered and has a bread oven, bbq and dining area. There is a small sink and shelving built in.

This leads on to the kitchen. The kitchen is well laid out with built-in cooker, space for a upright fridge freeze, custom made wood units, cooker with hob and beautiful stone worktops and a stone double sink. At the end of the kitchen is space for a dining table and a doorway leads through to the storage room and utility room which is plumbed for a washing machine and drier.

There is a door from the storage leading to the back garden.

Moving through from the beautiful kitchen, you enter into the lounge which has beautiful natural stone walls and a large open traditional fireplace. In the fireplace which has a large canopy supported by oak beams you will find a large wood-burning stove. The stove comes complete with back burner which heats hot water for the radiators and large thermal store for the domestic hot water system. Wood floors and vaulted wood ceiling make this room cosy and airy at the same time.

A large original stone doorframe leads through to corridor. Off the corridor is a beautiful bathroom, a small study and one of the bedrooms. The bathroom is finished with partial stone tiles, stone sink and stone floor.

The bedroom is large enough for twin beds and a wardrobe.

At the end of the corridor is the master suite which is beautifully finished with high vaulted ceiling in pine and an ensuite shower-room. This bedroom used to be the old animal stables and the stone work for the stalls has been retained and made into feature shelves. Pine doors and floorboards add to the beauty of the room. The ensuite is excellently finished with stone features throughout,

Throughout the property, the windows have wood internal shutters and modern tilt and turn double glazed windows in solid wood.

To the front of the house, is a patio area and rose bushes.

Attached to the house is an annex that contains a storage area and also the machine room that holds the 600L hot water tank.

The water is heated from the Solar Panels as the main source and also by the back boiler from the stove in the lounge, plus and immersion heater and a gas boiler. It is unlikely you will ever be short of hot water!!

Next to this annex is the one bedroom guest cottage which has its own bathroom. Room enough in here for twin beds and also storage space.

Opposite the main house is the first of the large paddocks belonging to the property.

This contains many fruit trees, olives, a water storage tank for the bore hole, threshing circle and a large ruin.

The walls of the ruin are still intact although there is no roof. Planning has been approved to convert this into habitation.

Going up the lane a little way, a large gate allows access to the large carport which has electric and water and would hold 4 cars. The lane continues up into the hills and this would be a fabulous location for anyone that enjoys walking, cycling or horse riding.

Passing by the garage, you enter into the second large paddock again with many trees.

There is also an old ruin that was once someone's house could be possible to renovate this. Also in this second paddock, there is another threshing circle and a large hole in the ground, possibly once a quarry and this could make a natural swimming pool if you had the imagination.

There is also the bore hole here which pumps to a storage tank in the front paddock.

The bore hole water is used for much of the domestic water in the house.

A gate from here leads to the rear of the house and into a more formal garden which contains a lovely rockery, small patio seating area and a large lawned area.

The location of this house is in the national park and is up a small country lane. This would make a lovely rural tourism project or a fabulous house. The peace and quiet of the area is undisturbed and there is no other building allowed.

The house is connected to mains water and also has internet and telephone and satellite TV.

A good walk will get you into the village which has a mini-market, restaurant and a couple of cafes and a bakery. Porto de Mos is around 30 minutes' drive and you could drive to Lisbon within 80 minutes. There is small river beach a short drive away as are the large caves famous in the area. The house is around 45 minutes from the coast.
