Descriere

Written records for the construction of this home have not yet been found. It is certainly amongst the oldest in Lunenburg, and like all the gambrel-roof homes preceding the Colonial Revival, constructed before the year 1800. Four of the original fireplaces remain, one which still burns wood with the recent installation of a wood burning stove. Most of the original 18th century architectural detail is intact and what has been added is in keeping with the period and based on the historic evidence uncovered. A "tavern window" in the dining room lends some to speculate, that at the time it was built, a business was conducted from this home. The house is light filled and has a spacious second floor with good height. The original cooking fireplace remains in the basement, lending an 18th century atmosphere to the lower level family room, an atmosphere consistent through three floors of living space. The lot extends to Townsend Street, has a large shed and parking at the rear, and an exceptional garden.
