The house went from cramped to intimate, but the owner says there is a world of difference between the two.
The garden level now includes the dining room with sitting area (both with gas fireplaces), and a gourmet, Siematic kitchen that includes a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Gaggenau gas cook top with Bosh electric, convection oven, Miele washer & dryer and Fisher Paykel dishwasher drawers. Extensive paneling, along with new mantle pieces and molding, bring a much higher level if sophistication and refinement than was previously there.
Take the custom built staircase upward to the second floor and be prepared for original heart of pine floors with five coats of polyurethane that still look wet to this day. This entire floor is treated as an open living area. It features high ceilings and two beautifully restored gas fireplaces and mantles. Cabinetry added during the renovation provides much needed storage space along with niches, recessed lights and French doors that open onto the outdoor sitting porch, which overlooks the lush garden and fountains below.
The third floor, which originally housed just one bedroom and bath, now has two of each. The master bedroom gained a restored fireplace, mirrored cabinetry to provide storage and the illusion of larger size and custom bath featuring mirrors with additional hidden cabinetry, curved walls, luxury wall coverings and recessed lighting. The guest room incorporates double closets and it's own stunning bathroom, again with concealed cabinetry and curved walls.
In the end, every square inch if the house was renovated and made functional, and the results show. The home has been featured on HGTV and was photographed in depth in “Architectural Digest”. The photography says it all. As much care has gone into maintaining this exquisite home that was taken during the renovation process.
