Los Gallardos is a popular destination for Spanish and tourists alike for the annual Three Kings celebration and re-enactment in January and also the July fiesta. The village has received considerable funding to build a new health centre, school and sports facilities with plans for a new cultural centre too.

Huerta Nueva has a good working relationship with the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) via its network of community Presidents and villa representatives.
