Dominated by the foothills of the French Alps, Amphion-Publier boasts the longest coastline on the French side of the lake. It was once a thermal resort, especially fashionable during the Second Empire and frequented during its time by the Sardinian court and the Princes of Savoy, who came for its alkaline, ferruginous and sulphurous waters. However, it was eventually overshadowed by the international success of its neighbour, Evian, and the thermal baths have since disappeared. Today, Amphion is a lakeside resort.
