This classic steel cutter rigged ketch was designed by William Garden and built by Duwamish Welding Works in Seattle Washington. She was originally commissioned by Paul Whittier whose father founded Whittier, California as a wedding present for his daughter. She and her husband planned an extensive world cruise and the vessel was built using only the finest materials and construction techniques.
The goal was to build strong, safe and comfortable vessel for world cruising. The Duwamish Welding Company was well known in the Pacific Northwest for building top quality steel commercial fishing boats and created a formidable hull that was finished at Whittier Island Boatyard, owned by the Whittier family. No expense was spared to create a fine, practical yacht. Construction includes a collision bulkhead for safety at sea.
The current owner spent purchased the vessel in 2011. He did extensive refurbishment and continued to carefully maintain her. She looks in excellent condition and is well suited to living aboard or world cruising.
