In the immediate vicinity , many chateaux can be admired and some even rented for special events. The most spectacular is probably the Lareole castle with its colored stripes made with the stones.
Gimont, is litterally the temple of duck, geese and foies gras and just 26 km west. A visit is a must, especially for the bell market on sundays at 10 AM.
Toulouse, 40 km away is the 4th largest city in France with population around one million if you include the suburbs. Though there is a lot to see, Toulouse centre can be walked through very easily. From the banks of the Garonne river, its cafes, its bars and tourist boats (like parisian bateau mouche) to the main plazza, place du Capitole, then to the Basilique Saint Sernin, oldest and largest roman basilic in France, it will take you less than an hour, strolling at your own pace.
Toulouse with its red (or pink) bricks changing shades with the changing light during the day is called the pink city.
