Huge ocean views, a place for the kayak, a charming fishing village, a short drive to Chester, or Hubbards, and not much further to Halifax. Launch your kayak, barbeque off the deck, or practice the art of the doing nothing on the covered verandah. Do I see a lifestyle looming? When you think of retiring the dream is fuzzy. I know. I had the dream myself and now it is all sketched. I decided to retire in Blandford and there were many reasons. One, it was affordable (Blandford is slightly off the beaten track but it is still only twenty minutes to Chester and Hubbards, and just under an hour to Halifax and 5 minutes to Bayswater Beach, (so many people simply drive by and not realize what a gem they have missed). Two, I wanted the sound of surf at night and a cracking sunset. Done. I wanted a place to moor a boat. Community wharf can be seen from here. And done. That was really enough, but not since I have moved there have I realize the wonderful sense of community, the pulling together for a local event; the art club, the historical society, the fund raiser for the local fire department, buying fresh lobster from the local lobster men.
