General Description

Born Free is a Scia 50 'built by Plaver in a single mold with a double-shell in fiberglass with thermal acoustic insulation and structural stiffening in Belco-Balsa. The deck is made with the same type of construction. The boat was built and set up in a personalized manner for its unique owner and obtained RINA homologation with superior certificate.

Its main characteristics that differentiate it from the other sisters are; the sloop rig and the very beautiful interior is built of Tanganyika walnut, high quality fittings. The owner and the family sailed for many years in great security and serenity by visiting the whole Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea several times.

The Plaver is located in Antigua. Unfortunately, because of the premature death of the commander, it must be sold. Some photos depict a red hull and others (the most recent) show the walls white because the boat was painted in 1999.

Actual Condition

It is reported that the hull of this 50' Plaver is in very good condition.

Recent work includes; Shaft bearing, Generator-Windvane.

Accommodations are: front batch, double bed in front cabin, salon (TABLE in salon is NOT included), 2 bunk beds, double-bed, kitchen, chart table, aft bath and aft cabin with double-bed. Sail locker, aft lazarette.
The rudder needs to be checked out.
