Description

Cosy and attractive house on the edge of a village, this lovely and attractive house at the edge of a village is an ideal opportunity to enjoy the French live here in the Gers.

This house is cosy, not too big (it saves you a lot of cleaning work) with nearly square sized rooms which are tastefully renovated. The entrance is magnificent with beautiful old floor tiles and its curved staircase that leads to the first floor with a large landing that can be used for a lounge, as an office or a place to paint or create things. Wood burners for a nice and quick warm atmosphere.

The garden is lovely and don't need great maintenance.

There is a vegetable garden and an open barn for wood and garden materials. A well with a pump for watering the garden. Geese now have their own area fenced round a 22 m2 sized barn.

A garage/workshop which can be converted in a summer kitchen or a small gite. Imagine sitting in the garden sipping your wine, enjoying the good life in France in the sun (in the micro climate we have here) and have a view over the landscape and the Pyrenees: you never want to leave anymore.

You will immediately forget that the house (with the back of the house towards this road) is close to a country road between two villages.

The Gers was voted as 'second best' to live in after Andalusie in Spain. So take your chance and book a flight and make an appointment to visit this lovely house with nice garden.

Equipment Details: Mains electricity, Mains water, Septic tank, Broad band Internet, Open Fire place, TV - Sat, Wood burner, Garden, Garage, Parking Lot, Outbuilding(s), Fenced, View.

The Gers: it seems that time stood still for 40 years: people have time for a chat, want to give you a hand when needed and will look after your garden and animals when you are away for a couple of days. Enjoy the beautiful views over the rolling hills of this part of France with the impressive Pyrenees for summer and winter entertainment. Saint Michel is a small village between Mirande and Trie sur Baise where you can go for shopping and to find all the things you need. Sports, doctors, markets, restaurants, bars, shops, vets, pharmacies, a post office and banks.

The department of Gers is often described by those who know France as an excellent area to visit, if not the best area of France for Brits who want to relocate. It is not over-run however and indeed, the department has a diverse array of assets to discover, some of them are obvious; the rolling countryside, very mild climate, the Pyrenees mountains, whilst others remain more subtle like the hearty food, local culture, street markets and Gascon traditions. Foreigners often refer to the area as Gascony, referring to the former French province.

The department is generally an agricultural area where the local gastronomy is highly regarded by both French nationals and foreign expats. The most cultivated crops in Gers are Colza, Grain, Sunflowers and Corn. Some of the older locals may speak a Gascon patois, but its usage remains in decline among the younger generations. The largest Gersoise towns in terms of number of inhabitants are Auch, Condom and Fleurance but even these are not overly large.
