Country house near Saintes

Country house near Saintes

This detached country house with scope for further development comes with a large outbuilding and plenty of land

House

A large glazed veranda (40m2) has been added to the front of this traditional stone fermette. It provides extra habitable space but could be removed if desired to restore the original facade.

From the veranda the original front door opens to an entrance hall (11m2) with tiled floor.

To the left of the hall a door opens to a large sitting room (35m2) with tiled floor, exposed beam ceiling and an attractive stone fireplace.

To the right of the hall a door opens to the dual-aspect farmhouse kitchen (34m2) with tiled floor, exposed beam ceiling, a range of kitchen units and a very prettily carved stone fireplace.

To the rear of the entrance hall an archway leads to an internal hall, off which are a large bedroom (17m2), a bathroom (bath, shower, wash-basin and bidet) as well as a separate WC.

A door from this hall opens to another (more basic) hall, off which is another bedroom (13m2). This second hall also provides access to another room (19m2) and a garage / store room. It could be possible to extend the habitable accommodation into these spaces.

Exterior

The buildings sit on a level plot of 7557m2 (just under 2 acres). Opposite the house is a large stone-built outbuilding (about 150m2) and to the front of the house is a large courtyard / parking area. The rest of the land is left mainly to grass with a number of trees.

The house has one neighbour and isa short walk from the village itself. The nearest shops are 3.5km, as is the local bar and the historic town of Saintes is just 10km.
