In the next village, only a 5 minute drive away, there are cafes, a restaurant, mini-market and bakery and it takes about 20 minutes to reach the nearest market towns of Alcanena and Porto de Mos. A bread van passes through Pia Carneira every day and there is also a van selling fresh fish once a week and another selling fresh fruit and vegetables.

The surrounding area is ideal for walking, biking and horse-riding as, located in the natural park, it is abundant in tracks and trails.
