Terms of Reference for a GIS Expert in Center for Soil and Fertilizer Research in Africa.

The recently launched Center for Soil and Fertilizer Research in Africa in Mohammed VI Polytechnic University at Benguerir would like to recruit a qualified and competent staff to work in the Center and pursue the identified priority initiatives that will be implemented in partnership with INRA, OCP Africa, selected international partner institutions and selected African country institutions. The expert will work with a group of experts assigned by stakeholders for the same purpose and promote the Center’s objectives.

Key tasks: 1. Conduct field or desk research on a particular subject, analyze information generated and prepare report.

2. Produce analyzed data as maps so that they can be better captured by readers.

3. Make relevant contacts with key stakeholders and arrange for joint interactions.

The candidate is required to have the following qualifications:

1. M.Sc. degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related fields or disciplines from a recognized university.

2. A minimum of 3 years of experience preferably in soil fertility mapping and remote sensing.

3. Good knowledge about current soil health issues and experience of working in collaboration with African research and training institutions.

4. Be bilingual (French and English).

5. Good analytic and writing skills.

6. If opportunity comes, bee willing to pursue doctoral study in geospatial analysis and/or geo-statistics.

7. It will be of great advantage if the candidate has some working knowledge and experience of GIS tools.
