Half Moon House $595,000

It's not just magnificent views that make this charming two-bed home a canny investment; Half Moon House has an intriguing and colourful history too.

From its stunning east coast location on the edge of one of Antigua's very first hotels, it boasts exceptional vistas over the crescent-shaped bay which gave it its name and is a regular 'world's best beach' nominee.

Half Moon Bay Hotel dates back to the 1950s and hosted numerous notable guests such as Audrey Hepburn, John Le Carre and Elton John. When the resort was ravaged by Hurricane Luis in 1995, the fact that the house survived largely unscathed is testament to its robust frame and solid construction.

Now, in addition to a proud past, it can look forward to a bright future. The resort site has just been bought by UK developers making it an ideal time to snap up the adjacent villa.

Half Moon House takes its place among vibrant flora and fauna like the regionally iconic scarlet bougainvillea. With a broad sundeck overlooking the glorious bay, it offers plenty of places for outdoor relaxation.

There's ample parking outside and the house is accessed by gentle steps. Inside is a spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining area. High vaulted ceilings allow the benign trade winds to keep the interior cool all year round.

Both bedrooms offer excellent views directly over the bay; the master bedroom's three large ocean-facing windows utilise this to full advantage. There are also two generously-proportioned bathrooms.

There is also the possibility, with an investment of US$ 395,000.00, to purchase an additional plot of land which would be perfect for private development.
