The African Research Center for Sustainable Mining and Environment (ARCSME) at Mohamed VI University Polytechnic invites applications from prospective and recent PhD graduates for a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Mining Engineering.

Fellowships are available to PhD graduates who have attained a PhD degree or who have submitted a doctoral thesis and are awaiting results.

The study discipline must be related to our research and must have outstanding academic record and mining industry experience.

The research projects offer an excellent professional training opportunity for advanced research in mine planning and design, numerical modeling & mining field instrumentation.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.

Demonstrated ability to develop good scientific research proposal, and clearly articulate research concepts are required.

The candidate will be part of the team working on different research projects. Skills for networking are critically important.

A principal objective of the postdoctoral research fellowship program is to train the next generation of mining faculty. Accordingly, in addition to completing major research projects in relation to phosphate mining, successful candidates, as members of the ARCSME team, will be strongly encouraged to participate in the relevant activities of the center.

Job Description: 1. Conducting research to support the mine planning, fragmentation, and material transport in open pit mining and other related research in including preparation of technical reports, organizing research group meetings, technical presentations, and review and publish scientific papers and technical reports.

2. Assisting the Center Director to prepare and submit proposals for research grant applications from government, industry and the private sector.

3. Arranging technical review meetings and communications with sponsors, collaborators and partners of the related projects.

4. Evaluating, purchasing, installing and operating research instruments within assigned pool of projects.

Other: The Fellowship is available effective immediately for a period of 1 year, renewable for up to 3 more years.

Qualifications: * PhD in Mining, Mineral Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.

* R&D experience in mining unit operations is preferred.

* Knowledge and research skills in phosphate mining is an asset.

* Experience in mine system modeling is preferred.

* Experience with Autocad is desired.

* Experience Mine Design Software Such as Vulcan, Ventsim is preferred.

* Self-starter and motivator with the mind-set of focusing on deliverables and getting the job done.

* Demonstrates leadership and creative thinking in a team environment.

* Hands-on experience with creative research of fragmentation, and hydraulic transportation.

* Hands-on experience with the supervision of graduate students.

* Proven skills in writing technical reports and journal papers.

* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills.

* Ability to work in a team environment.

* Familiarity with all relevant laboratory safety codes and practices.
