Roberts Lodge - Low Care Hostel
Low Care aged care is available for people who are capable of living with a degree of independence and require some support to manage daily tasks, but do not need full-time nursing. Services like cleaning, cooking and washing are provided at the facility as well as some personal care support.
Low Care aged care facilities aim to provide a well-maintained and home-like environment, supported by carers who can assess and address individual aged care needs.
Low Care is sometimes referred to as Hostel, or Assisted Living.
To be eligible for entry into any aged care service or facility and some of our community care programs you must first be assessed by your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACATs).
Your doctor or local hospital can refer you to an ACAT. The ACAT is usually based at a hospital or community centre and may include a doctor, nurse, social worker, physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
ACATs can help you decide which services you need. They can help you to get residential care or a Community Aged Care Package (CACP), refer you to community care services, or help you arrange respite care in a residential setting.
The Commonwealth Carelink Centre (Ph: 1800 052 222) can give you the contact details of your local ACAT.
