The small village has mainly shepherds living in, just right leaving the rat-race and finding quietness and silence, whilst amusements are close by. Nearby the village is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of Crete, reaching from Kavros (1km) to Georgiopoulis (4km), where during the season many tourists, mostly families, are staying from all around the world.
In the wintertime it is very quiet (daily shopping can be done), but the towns of Chania and Rethymno are quick reachable, either by car or frequently bus transfer from Kavros.
