St Marys Villa

St Mary's Villa is a welcoming residential aged care community offering low care accommodation for 49 residents.

Located in Dubbo and set in secure, picturesque landscaped gardens, our community is a warm and friendly place with caring and professional staff. Residents are provided with all meals, personal care services, washing and ironing, as well as companionship, security and friendship. We have a very active group of volunteers who assist with activities and fundraising. People from all backgrounds and faiths are welcomed as residents.

History:

Our residential aged care community was the dream of a small group of caring and dedicated people from the Society of St Vincent de Paul back in the early 1970s. This group of people worked tirelessly to bring to a reality the need for housing for older people within Dubbo and surrounding districts.

A grant from the Federal Government and additional fundraising made the dream a reality. Officially opened as Ozanam Villa by the Hon. Ralph Hunt, Minister for Health and Member for Gwydir and blessed by Bishop Thomas in October 1978, the Villa was built with 41 single rooms and one double room accommodation.

Upgrading and refurbishment has been undertaken regularly over the past 30 years. Much has been done and accomplished over this time and anyone who walks through the doors of this wonderful place can see and feel the love and care given by those connected with the running of community.

The Peter Walkom Function Room was completed in 2003 and opened and blessed by Father Paul Devitt in 2003. This beautiful room was dedicated to the memory of the late Peter Walkom who worked tirelessly over a number of years as a member of the management committee and contributed so much to the beautification and upkeep of our lovely gardens and grounds. This room has been used so much since its opening and has opened up the way for many activities for our residents.

In May 2007, after nearly 30 years being run by the St Vincent de Paul Society, the community became part of Catholic Healthcare and in May 2008 Ozanam Villa was renamed St Mary's Villa.
