There are a number of good sized towns within very easy distance of this property; Figueiro dos Vinhos is about a 10 minute drive and Pedrogao Grande about 15 minutes, both have all of the amenities and services you would expect of a large town. There is a large farmers market in Figueiro on a Saturday and on a Monday in Pedrogao.

The Barragem Cabril is located at Pedrogao Grande. This was constructed in 1954 in the Rio Zezere to form a lagoon area measuring 55km. The lagoon is attractively borded by eucalyptus and pines and the dam iteself provides domestic electricity. The Barragem Cabril is used locally for swimming, fishing and scuba diving and has a floating swimming pool.

Praia das Rocas is a Leisure Complex that has a large open air swimming pool with a wave machine which is fed by the warm waters of the Ribeira de Pera. This complex is located in the centre of Castanheira de Pera

Coimbra, which is Portugal's third city is a 40 minute drive away and has one of the world oldest universities which was founded in 1920. Coimbra sits on the edge of the River Mondego, it has a beautiful city centre with cafe bars, shops, ancient churches and there is regularly entertainment in the town centre opposite the impressive church.
