SummitCare Penrith is a true home for our residents, who receive inclusive and warm care and support that celebrates the individual and their life story.

In a superb location on Sydney’s western outskirts at the base of the stunning Blue Mountains, the 95-bed centre offers support including specialised dementia care on a ground level in single, double and triple-bed configurations.

Our Magnolia wing is secure, delivering warm and professional care to 40 residents with early stage dementia and wandering tendencies.

The general common areas at SummitCare Penrith include dining and lounge spaces where residents and their visitors can relax and chat, as well as a garden and welcoming courtyard that are perfect for barbecues. Plenty of parking is available for visitors and public transport is close by.

From delicious and nutritious fresh food cooked on site to weekly hairdressing services and a team of experienced and dedicated staff, nothing has been overlooked. Residents receive access to our nursing team around the clock, while allied health services include physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology.

The activity program ranges from concerts and exercise programs to craft, the Play Up program, pet therapy and fun social barbecues.

Safety Information

SummitCare is committed to ensuring the safety of the residents, relatives, staff and volunteers in our centres. We hold a bi-monthly Work Health & Safety and Risk Management forum, and each centre has an appointed committee.

Fire Training

Our residential centres conduct fire training for all staff members through Emcorp. Staff are trained in the use of equipment such as fire extinguishers, evacuation and general handling of an emergency fire situation. Mock fire training is also conducted, where staff practice evacuating residents under similar conditions. Residents can be involved in this training, or they may elect not to be involved.

Outbreak Management

In the residential aged care environment, outbreaks of infectious disease sometimes occur, despite the rigorous infection-control principles that are applied throughout our centres. SummitCare utilises a strict outbreak management procedure to contain the spread of infection in these situations. During outbreaks, visiting is suspended so as not to spread the infection beyond the centre. Any outbreaks are reported to the public health unit and the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, as per our critical incident procedure.

HACCP

SummitCare kitchens are fully compliant with HACCP legislation. Food is prepared in accordance with the HACCP guidelines, as well as the Food Safety Standards of Australia.
