The Street, Brook, Ashford, Kent Tn25

An appealing and desirable family house, with interesting period features, a pretty garden, swimming pool and paddock, in an attractive rural village.

The property is situated on the northern edge of the popular rural village of Brook, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North Downs. The picturesque village of Wye lies just over 2 miles away, with its good choice of local amenities. Wider facilities are available in the market town of Ashford and in the Cathedral City of Canterbury, with their good shopping centres, choice of schools, recreational, sporting and cultural opportunities and good communications by both road and rail. Ashford International now benefits from the arrival of the Javelin High Speed trains to London, reducing the journey time to just 38 minutes.

Sankey House is reached off the road by a gravelled driveway, which leads to the parking and turning area to the side of the house. It is a lovely family house, with considerable character, retaining the attractive features of the earlier building, which dates from the 16th century, having later additions. The elevations are of brick under tiled roofs, having twin bays to the front, which is clad with mature wisteria. Inside, features include fine exposed timbers, old fireplaces, parquet flooring and a fine dining table built round one of the upright timbers overlooked by a small gallery. The accommodation itself is adaptable, with a spacious main reception room running the width of the house, together with a separate sitting room and dining room. During the current ownership, the house has been carefully maintained, which has included replacing windows, stripping beams, fitting a new kitchen and updating both the electrical and central heating systems (with a new boiler and solar panels).
