Description

Renovation project of large house and barn sitting in countryside.

Perfect opportunity to create your own dream home, by renovating this house (and its attached barn) which sitsbetween the two popular market towns of Trie sur Baise and Mielan and with no immediate neighbours thus offers you a great place to live and relax!

Rural but not remote, you will be just 10 minutes away from the shops with your daily needs yet benefit from the beautiful countryside this region has to offer!

This property is a traditional L-shaped farm. The original house area has a bigentrance hall and a square lounge with a fireplace. Beyond a door there is an area for a huge kitchen/dining area. Also, there is the extra space at the back of the house which is accessible via an existing doorway.

Upstairs there are currently two bedrooms, one of which is very large in size thus offering you great scope to add further rooms or to maximise this to your own desire.

The outbuilding offerspotential living space with a possibility of creating another two large bedrooms (Hay loft) and a large living area (milking parlour) for lounge, utility room, office or whatever you envisage in your project.

Trie-sur-Baïse is a lively market town with plenty of shops to satisfy everyday requirements(even a restaurant/ takeaway pizzeria where they are made by a renowned 'champion') as well as local tourist office and internet cafe. In addition, every Tuesday, there is the traditional market. Also swimming pool and sports to enjoy.

The Parish Church legend recalls how, in August 1355, the early inhabitants of Trie assembled to decide where the church should be built. Snow began to fall and covered the ground except for one spot in the shape of a cross. This is where they built the first chapel dedicated to our "Lady of the snow", who is, to this day, the protector of the town.

The Carmes monastery was founded in 1365. In 1659, arson destroyed the main buildings and only the church could be partly saved from complete destruction. The monastery was only rebuilt 60 to 70 years later.

The church was fully restored in 1992 and has today become a center of cultural activities. A typical example of meridional gothic architecture, the church is the centerpoint of local historical interest and its cloister has been reconstructed stone by stone in New York.

The department of Hautes-Pyrenees is the southern-most department of the Midi Pyrenees region, its capital being the beautiful town of Tarbes. The department has a very interesting geography as two small sections belonging geographically to Aquitaine are administratively part of the Hautes-Pyrenees. The department is split into two very different landscapes: mountains to the south covering half of the department, valleys to the north where the majority of the towns and villages are.

The economy of the department is mainly agricultural and tourism. Inside Midi Pyrenees, smaller areas have traditional names such as the Comminges (east of Toulouse) or the famous Gascony. Hautes-Pyrenees is a very nice area to settle and one area to look out for (not very well known) is the Baronnies, a set of 30 villages which decided to preserve their rural traditions. An unspoilt area, they represent the rural idyll for anybody in search for absolute peace, authenticity and rest.
