Situated in a superb situation at the junction of two streams with an ancient port, this building, not surprisingly, is on the site of a former watermill and the oldest surviving section of it used to be the miller's house (from around 1700). In 1800 the building as it is now appears on official plans as a warehouse for goods, mainly cognac, being exported through the little port. Included in the sale are water and fishing rights and the vendor would be prepared to throw in his mooring in the present-day port for a modest sum - there's normally a four-year waiting list....This property is at 100 km from Bordeaux Airport and 119 km from La Rochelle Airport. Royan is 39 km away and the small towns of Saint Fort sur Gironde and Mortagne sur Gironde, each with a range of local shops and services, are 4.6 and 8 km respectively. Nearest supermarkets are a little more than 20 km away in either direction.
