Description:

Top O' The Mornin is truly an exceptional vessel that comes to the market as a custom yacht built by the Wellington Production Manager and a professional boat builder with over twenty years experience in the industry. Their goal was to construct a vessel beyond normal production standards for the sole purpose of crossing oceans, and to withstand the weather and sea conditions of blue water cruising.

The keel of Top O' The Mornin was laid in 1991 at the Wellington yard pursuant to John Alden's design of a Wellington 47, which incorporated a full, five foot keel with centerboard. The only deviation from Alden's specification was the installation of an integrated bowsprit which increased the length overall to 49 feet.

By todays standards, Top O' The Mornin is over built, with: a solid hand laid-up fiberglass hull, fully bonded glassed-in bulkheads, overlapping hull to deck joint bonded with 5200, and secured with stainless steel bolts on 3 inch centers, fully insulated foam hull liner, fiberglass end grain composite cored deck, fully molded fiberglass keel with an integral centerboard trunk, 14,000 pounds of internal lead ballast, a 1,000 pound centerboard, oversized rigging, roller furling genoa and self-tending staysail, and much more.

The design and interior layout of Top O' The Mornin is simple and straightforward. All systems and materials are state of the art, well thought out, heavy duty, and easily accessible for maintenance and repair. Interior appointments are lavish, purposeful, and show extreme attention to details with: a varnished teak interior, solid teak trimmed cabinets, teak and holly sole, opening ports and hatches, aft stateroom with queen berth, head, shower, vanity, and navigation station; passageway with excellent access to the engine room; a large raised deck salon with galley and settees; and twin forward cabins with shared head and double berths port and starboard.

Top O' The Mornin comes equipped with a 100 hp Westerbeke diesel with approximately 725 hours. AC power is supplied by an 8kW Westerbeke generator with 589 hours, and a 2kW inverter. Air conditioning is provided by two Marine Air units (16,000 BTU main salon, 9,000 BTU master cabin).

The current owners are retiring from sailing. Top O' The Mornin will make an excellent blue water cruiser, ideal for living aboard, or cruising the islands and beyond. The current owners have maintained the vessel in excellent condition, and she is ready for her next owners adventures.
