The Beneteau First 51 from the late 1980's era is considered an excellent boat for racing and cruising.  This 1989 First series yacht was designed by German Frers and built in Europe.  They are some of the best boats built by Beneteau.  Considered comparable to the Swans of that era but at half the cost. The boats are featured prominently in Ferenc Mate's acclaimed book of that time \"The World's Best Boats\".
