IDEAL FOR LIVING IN THE PROPERTY AND RUN A RURAL GUEST HOUSE
Brief description:
- Total land m2: 15.000 m2 of organic land
- Buildings m2; 660 m2. The buildings have several parts:
+ The old house, dated 1928, but completely renewed, is a two story typical Canaries house. The lower floor has 2 rooms and used to be a coffee shop for passer byes. iT COULD BECOME NOW IN A SHOP TO SELL TEA, ARTESANIE, ETC. The upper floor has 3 wooden floor rooms, where the owners used to live. It also has a patio with one additional room, the kitchen, a bathroom, and stairs to go to the new house (see below). The old house total surface is 190 m2.
+ The New house. The inside was built 8 years ago, respecting the outer walls of a big 1960 tomato packaging plant that was adjacent to the old house.
It has a dinning hall, a corridor that runs middle to the 6 double rooms newly built, each with an individual bathroom. One is adapted for handicapped people. The original plant was 4.55 meters high, and in some rooms we built a loft, which can have a bed. All rooms are exterior. On the back of the building there is an inside space of 46.33 m2 (with a 4,55 m ceiling), where it would be possible to set 2-4 additional rooms.
Under these rooms there is a cellar, 80 m2, which could be used for storage or even for courses, as it has two opening to the garden.
Building materials used are completely natural, for instance the floors are baked clay tiles, there are no paints on the building (we used a pigment included into the white cement), wood, metal, even we left uncovered the natural volcanic stone of the walls, so the building can breath.
The total built surface of this section is 393.51 m2
+ The garden: The old roads used by the trucks coming to pick up the packaged tomatoes, were converted into a garden. To create the walls of the gardens we used the multiple colored natural volcanic stones from the island.
+ The sauna complex: A big truck garage and adjacent corridor was converted into a sauna (made by Russian people with natural wood and a wood stove surrounded by stones, with a surface of 7.21 m2), a herb and juice bar, a massage room (with shower, 6.44 m2), a changing room (5.58 m2), a bathroom and two showers. the total built surface of the sauna complex is 76 m2.
+ The land: The total surface of the property is 15.000 m2 (1,5 hectares). 2/3 is agricultural land, consisting of 26 terraces of rich volcanic land. As one of the important purposes of this property (when it was a clinic) was to give patients a good nutrition in terms of juices and solid food, the land had the official, government seal of Organic Land. There are avocado trees, orange and lemon trees, vines, and we used to grow coffee and apples (the last two now lost). The land is good to grow all kind of vegetables, and we used to grow carrots, swisschard, spinach, cabbage, beetroots, lettuce, even turmeric. The property has big water tank (about 1.000.000 liters) for irrigation. This water is of high purity, as it comes from a galeria, a tunnel dug quite deep tapping an underground lake, whose water comes from the snow of the central volcano)
+ The caves: There are two caves in the property. They are quite big and high, and are dug into the volcanic stone. They are cool and even temperature and dark, so they were ideal to keep the potatoes or tomatoes or any other produce by the farmer before us, to keep them fresh till prices would improve. Their height is about 3.5 meters and one of the caves is about 35 m2 and the other a bit bigger, about 40 m2.
+ There is a double water supply. One is from the general, government supply. The other supply is from an underground lake in the island (chlorine and fluoride free). There is government supplied three- and single phase electric power. The property is in the countryside, although there are two neighboring houses nearby, 4 Km from a village with 2 grocery stores, two banks, 3 cafes, a city hall, a small library and doctors office. There are bus services going north and south of the island running on the road in front of the property. There is landline telephone connection on the property, able to install ADSL line (temporary suspended now, but easy to re-activate)
