Charming country house
This attractive stone house, formerly part of an important local estate dating back to the 14th century, retains some original features and is set on a plot of about 1 acre.
House
Ground floor
The front door opens to a room (21m2 - currently used as a dining room) with tiled floor. To the right of this room (and semi open-plan with it) is the sitting room (15m2) with wooden flooring.
To the back of the dining area, to the right, is the kitchen (12m2) with tiled floor, a range of fitted units and a pair of part-glazed doors opening onto the garden.
To the left of the dining area a door opens to a room (11m2) which is currently used as a bedroom.
To the left of the dining area a corridor leads to a shower room, a WC and a laundry room. At the end of the corridor a door opens into the outbuildings (into which it could be possible to extend the habitable accommodation- subject to any relevant planning permissions).
First floor
A staircase leads up from the dining room to a very large first floor room (about 45m2) in which it could be possible to create a number of rooms. To one end part has been walled off to create a bedroom (11m2). There is also access to a room in the tower from this end. To the other end a door opens to a large attic space (about 55m2) into which it could also be possible to extend the habitable accommodation.
Outbuildings
Attached to one side of the house is part of what was once a tower. It now consists of a room on the ground floor (about 10m2) with impressive defensive window openings which clearly show the thickness of the walls.
Attached to the other side is a substantial outbuilding (about 75m2 at ground level) with similar window openings to the tower. This building has great potential for development subject to relevant permissions.
Garden
The buildings sit on a plot of 4021m2, with a long drive running from the lane to a gravel courtyard area to the front of the house. To one side of the courtyard is the former bread oven.
The garden is mainly laid to lawn with a number of mature trees and shrubs.
Set in a small hamlet, with far-reaching views as well as views over the surviving parts of the chateau, this property is in a quite location, but just 4km from the local village and 10km from the bustling little town of Mansle.
