Elegant townhouse on the church square
This attractive stone townhouse with walled garden is in a great location in the heart of this popular riverside market town.
Formerly used as a doctor's surgery with accommodation above, it would take little effort to turn it back into an elegant period home.
House
Ground floor
The front door opens to the entrance hall that runs the depth of the house with a door at the far end opening to the garden. To the left a door opens to a reception room (13m2) with tiled floor, marble fireplace and a pair of tall windows overlooking the church square. This room was once about 20m2, but has been divided to create a store room - it would be possible to re-integrate the two.
A little further down the hall opens to an internal hall - to the left of which is the store room. To the right a door opens to another reception room (19m2) with tiled floor, fireplace with an attractive over-mantle and an expose beam ceiling. To the far side of this room a door opens to a small conservatory, off which is a ground floor WC.
To the far end of the entrance hall a door opens to a room (14m2) with tiled floor. Formerly used as a treatment room, it would be ideal as a kitchen.
First floor
A wooden staircase rises from the internal hall to the first floor landing. To the right a door opens to a large room (28m2) with wooden floor and three pairs of windows overlooking the square. Also off the landing are a bedroom (17m2), a WC and a kitchen (10m2). From the kitchen a door opens to a small hall with access to the garden.
Second floor
The stairs continue from the landing to the second landing, off which are two bedrooms (12m2 and 8m2) and a shower room (shower room, wash-basin).
Another staircase rises from the small hall off the kitchen to a bedroom (12m2) off which is an ensuite bathroom (bath, wash-basin).
Exterior
Doors from the main entrance hall and from the conservatory open to a paved courtyard from where a flight of steps rises to the garden. The garden itself is mainly laid to lawn, with a number of trees and shrubs. To the back of the garden is a pretty covered terrace, next to which is a small stone garden outbuilding.
This is an elegant house in great central location - the boulangerie / patisserie is just on the other side of the square and the shops and restaurants are just a couple of minutes walk.
