The historical aspect of the land

Back in the 19th century there was a small castle on this land, the remains of which are still visible today. This was the summer residence of Petrobey Mavromichalis , the ruler of Mani during the Turkish occupation and one of the major leaders of the Greek revolution against the Turks in 1821.

It was at this spot where the leaders of the Greek revolution { Mavromichlis,Kolokotronis and Papaflessas gathered on May 23,1821 to prepare for the invasion of Kalamata, which was the first Greek city to be liberated.
