The Secret Garden....

was one of my favourite books as a child, and here it is. I always wondered what it would be like to step through a door in a wall and into that world of a garden. Here there is not only a wonderful garden, a beautiful house, stunning pool but also a sense of privacy; peace and quiet - your own space yet in the middle of a friendly village.

The house presents in two parts, the main house and the guest accommodation. All mod cons but character retained, a perfect balance. Enter into the kitchen, fully fitted and equipped, turn right into the room currently used as an office and then step into the large (31m2) lounge with its stone fireplace and Godin wood-burning stove. There is a bathroom and toilet off this room, and the stairs to the first floor. At the back of the kitchen is the entrance to the dining room. Once part of the attached barn, it abounds with the character of the region, with pointed stone walls, oak beams plus modern French doors onto the covered patio/bar-b-que area. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a shower-room with toilet. The guest accommodation has its own entrance and consists of a large living-room with corner kitchen (again fitted and equipped) and up the stairs to the mezzanine where there is a double bedroom, shower room, and what is currently used as an artists studio (could be a fourth bedroom).

The garden surrounds the house and includes a 'bubble' pool (exotically shaped), sitting areas to follow the sun - or escape its heat - parking area - workshop - garden shed - boiler room for the central heating, and pool room with pump which also doubles as a cellar. The wall curves round two sides of the garden and a hedge round the others creating that sense of privacy.

In a small village 4.5 km from Savigne with shops, supermarkets, etc. and close to the market town of Civray. It is 45 minutes to Poitiers, city shops, TGV station and airport with UK links.
