Guadalmar is situated on the outskirts of Spain's southernmost city of Malaga.

It is around 10 km from the city centre of Malaga and a similar distance to Torremolinos.

Guadalmar beach is around 450 metres long.

At one end of the beach is a green reserve which makes up the mouth of the River Guadalhorce.

At the other end is the Parador Golf course which is one of the oldest golf courses in the region.

It opened in 1925 and was designed by Tom Simpson, the architect of the Turnberry and Muirfield courses in Scotland.

The beach directly in front of the golf course allows both clothed and naturist bathing.

The beach area is only around 3 kilometres from the airport making this a very convenient location.

One disadvantage is that the area is on the flightpath for Malaga airport.

The train station at the airport is very useful with trains leaving every 20 minutes.

In one direction the trains run to the Plaza Mayor commercial centre and the resorts of Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola.

In the other direction it is a very short trip into the city of Malaga,

Malaga is the second most populous city in Andalucia, the sixth in the whole of Spain and more importantly it's a major tourist destination.

It is famed for its rich architectural history, delicious Mediterranean cuisine, outstanding local wines and beautiful sandy beaches as well as being the birthplace of Picasso.

The streets offer many shops and stores as well as bars and restaurants.

To walk from the port through the streets and squares and finish up at the cathedral is an experience not to be missed.
