Location

Kalyves is located about 20km east of Chania. Frequent public transport along the national road but the bus will let you off about 1km away from the village. If you don't want to walk there are also several buses a day from the centre of the village to Chania.

The village of Kalyves remains relatively quiet compared to some of the other seaside resorts on the north coast of the island of Crete.

The beaches of Kalyves have been awarded with the blue flag for its cleanliness. Kalyves is a real village, not just a tourist invention and this is part of the charm of the place. The countryside around Kalives is one of the greenest in Crete and the backdrop of the White Mountains is beautiful.

The setting here is splendid. On one side, you've got the bright blue waters of Souda Bay and the rugged coastline of Akrotiri Peninsula; and on the other, acres and acres of orange and olive groves, backed by the soaring peaks of the White Mountains.
