Large, bare wooden beams have been retained inside the main house to maintain the building's traditional charm and authenticity, whilst the windows and roof were completely replaced during renovation. Also retained is the “Kachelofen”, a kind of traditional ceramic stove at the heart of the house, giving some extra warmth during the winter. This Kachelofen is decorated with a beautiful dark green tiled facade. In addition the entire ground floor as well as the upper floor bathroom is supplied by underfloor heating.

The house is located in Marienwerder in the county of Brandenburg. It lies in the Barnim natural park and is about 50km north of Berlin. The natural park itself extends all the way down to the northern Berlin districts of Pankow and Reinickendorf, and is mostly forested with a large number of lakes and countless small river valleys.
