The Island Packet 31 is a cutter rigged, full keel Robert Johnson design. Her large cockpit and wide side decks make for a safe and easy to handle vessel. Down below her wide 11'6\" beam makes for a very spacious cabin. Berths for up to seven and loads of storage to boot! An Excellent go anywhere cruiser that feels and sails like a much larger yacht. This 1988 Island Packet 31’, is a rare find.   She is a FRESHWATER sailboat that has spent her entire life in the Great Lakes.   She has been lightly and lovingly used by her original owners that bought her new and since they have owned her she is only in the water 5 months per year and always Fresh Water. 

She has been beautifully maintained with many upgrades that make her a comfortable cruising vessel in all types of weather and conditions.  A New full canvas Dodger cockpit enclosure gives protection in the rain or bug season.  Zip off the sides and you have shade to cool you.  To make the sailing easier and safer, all the lines are led aft.  The genoa and staysail are both on roller furling.  While sailing, electronic instruments, including knot meter/log, depth, multi-function wind speed/direction, autopilot and a Raymarine C80 chart plotter, are on a pedestal right in front of the helmsman’s seat.  

The cabin is extremely spacious and comfortable in addition to being very attractive.  An 11’6” beam and 6’ 3” headroom allows even a large group to gather around the extended table for dinner. Storage areas are plentiful and easily accessible.  Behind the fold-down table are places for glasses, bottles, or other dining necessities. For privacy there is a three-cabin layout.  The spacious V berth, with hanging closet, can be closed off from the main salon with a louvered door.  The head is equipped with a shower and has excellent storage with three cabinets.  The head can be accessed from the V berth or from the main salon.  In the main salon are a second hanging locker and cabinet.  The main salon can sleep three.  On the port side is a single berth, and a pullout- double is on the starboard side.  The third cabin is the starboard quarter berth area and can be closed off from the main salon by flipping up the navigation station table and closing a wooden folding door.  Ventilation to the quarter berth cabin is by 2 opening ports and one overhead hatch. Altogether, she has 9 stainless steel opening ports and 4 overhead hatches. All hatches and ports, as well as the companionway door have stainless screens - New in 2015.  This boat has been loved!
