General Vessel Description.

The Azimut 60 introduces numerous innovations. Sporty lines and larger volumes characterize the style of the new generation of yachts designed by Stefano Righini: the exterior style features that give the Azimut 60 its personality is the vertical bow and big pilothouse windows, which on the starboard side are full-height, offering an unprecedented view of the sea thanks to the cutaway gunwales next to the saloon. The numerous relaxation areas, including one in the bow, offer unique islands of privacy on a boat this size.

The interior and exterior furnishings draw on the experience of Achille Salvagni, one of AD Collector’s top 100 international designers and included on the A-list drawn up by Elle Decor USA. The sophisticated style of a megayacht and the warm atmosphere created by Salvagni, who introduces a new style language borrowed from residential architecture, represent an absolutely unique feature for a boat of these dimensions.

The design philosophy is based entirely on the theme of timeless calm and elegance, which some critics have compared to Italian Renaissance art, but seen from an absolutely contemporary perspective: “the new Italian Renaissance”. On the ceiling, concentric patterns are underscored by the juxtaposition of different materials, including matt lacquer on the central section, set off against the technical cladding of the ring around it. The theme of curved lines is also a feature of the furniture and furnishings, which have been crafted according to Salvagni’s designs by expert artisans, using forty different templates to create the curved sections.

Salvagni uses extremely rich materials to conjure up the idea of the voyage, practical and sophisticated, with a close eye for detail and fine finishes, which represents an absolute novelty in the world of yachts this size.

No less than three varieties of wood are used alternately: dark-sand-coloured brushed oak and pearl-coloured closed-pore tai wood, embellished with 100 gloss solid mahogany trim and chrome-plated brass and steel bands. For the dinette and saloon flooring too, in addition to more traditional wood and carpet, there is also the option of innovative technical carpeting by Tecdue, which while water-resistant, has a warm fabric feel. The lighting design uses light sources produced according to Salvagni’s designs and there are six different preset light moods for the main deck, making life on board even more comfortable at the same time as creating a unique atmosphere.

Turning to the layout, the interiors feature totally innovative solutions, not least on the main deck. The dinette has an unprecedented view of the sea, thanks to the cutaway gunwales and floor-to-ceiling windows. As well as a dining space, this area can also be used as a second lounge area and is fitted for this reason with an up/down table available in wood or crystal glass. The particularly striking design of the kitchen features a work top and ceiling with circular lines to reflect the other settings. The appliances are by Miele and an optional wine cooler is also available. The spaces flow seamlessly from the dining area to the lounge, and likewise from outdoors to indoors, which are separated by a coaming-free door.

Below deck, the Azimut 60 has a layout with three cabins and three bathrooms. Borrowing from home design, the full-beam owner’s cabin in the center of the yacht stands out for the striking one-off suspended design pieces. Expressing a strong personality, they keep up the play on flowing lines in the other settings, while providing a remarkably high level of storage. The big bed is arranged perpendicular to the keel to offer a fantastic view of the sea, with the wardrobe and bathroom aft in order to separate the cabin from the engine room for more silence.

Confirming Azimut’s signature style, the flybridge is extremely spacious and split into three separate areas: the helm station with seats for the driver and co-driver, plus a sun lounging area
next to them; the dinette with a mobile bar; and a further living area in the stern. Righini has extended the surface of the flybridge even further towards the stern, in such a way as to create a secluded and spacious saloon, furnished with soft, comfortable, home style sofas accompanied by super soft closed cell foam cushions upholstered in batyline, a latest generation technical fabric that is soft to the touch, but extremely strong and easy to maintain, even in marine environments. Comfort is also guaranteed by the electrically-operated bimini hard top.

The sofas in the dinette, designed by Salvagni, reflects the flowing lines of the interiors and create an original suspended effect.

The elegance of the exteriors is completed by tables in the cockpit and on the flybridge is sintered marble with solid teak perimeter edging.

Outside on the main deck is another privacy island in the bow, representing a revolution for yachts this size and offering a big sun lounging area that can be transformed into a lounge area featuring two big facing sofas.

There are two options for the crew cabin in the bow, which can have either two berths or one only and plenty of storage space with access from the outside, to use for a Seabob, for example, and all the boat’s technical accessories. The swim platform can carry a 3.25 meter tender.

Azimut 60 is also a paradigm of latest generation advanced technology, in terms of both its construction and innovative onboard technology to ensure maximum comfort and safety.

Vinyl ester resin applied almost entirely by infusion (90%), is used not only on the surface layers but also for the core of the hull and the superstructure, because of its superior build quality.

The yacht features latest-generation technical solutions, identified by Azimut’s Innovation Lab in the framework of the ECS - Enhanced Cruising Solutions program, to offer the best possible boat management: from Active Trim Control, which adjusts the trim continuously during navigation, reducing friction and optimizing consumption, to Electronic Power Steering, which allows the owner to customize the sensitivity of the control functions, regulating wheel turns and steering effort according to speed and piloting style. Azimut installed electronic steering on this type of boat, for the first time in the world, on the 60’s big sister, the 66.
